Strong Monthly and Year-to-Date Growth
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast Auto has reported a significant increase in domestic sales for May, reflecting continued momentum in its home market. According to company data, the firm delivered 19,503 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) during the month, representing a 70% growth compared to the 11,496 units recorded in May of the previous year.
This performance underscores the company’s expanding market share within Vietnam. The growth trend extends to the first five months of the year, where domestic sales reached 97,961 units—a 74% increase from the 56,187 vehicles sold during the same period in 2023.
Key Model Performance
The company’s diverse model lineup has been instrumental in driving these figures. Demand remains particularly concentrated in commercial and compact segments. The key contributors to the year-to-date sales figures include:
- Green Limo: 24,059 units
- VF3: 20,231 units
- VF5: 16,803 units
- VF6: 11,057 units
- VF MPV 7: 7,923 units
- VF7: 5,412 units
- EV Van: 4,071 units
For the month of May alone, the Green Limo led the firm’s output with 5,108 deliveries, followed closely by the VF3, which saw 4,770 units sold.
Strategic Outlook
VinFast, which is listed on the Nasdaq, has established itself as a major player in the Vietnamese automotive sector. In 2023, the automaker reported 175,099 domestic sales, a figure that represented nearly one-third of all vehicle sales in the country for that year.
Looking ahead, the company maintains ambitious growth targets as it seeks to scale operations. VinFast has previously communicated a global sales goal of 300,000 vehicles by 2026. This target follows a period of rapid expansion in which the company more than doubled its annual volumes to 196,919 vehicles in 2023.
