Goldman Sachs has significantly adjusted its outlook for CrowdStrike (CRWD), raising its price target for the cybersecurity firm to $726 from $500. This revision follows a robust first-quarter fiscal 2027 performance from the company, which exceeded analyst expectations across multiple key financial metrics.
Market Thesis on AI Infrastructure
The upward revision in the price target is underpinned by Goldman Sachs’ thesis that CrowdStrike is positioned as essential infrastructure for the deployment of enterprise AI. As businesses transition AI workflows from proof of concept to production, the expansion of autonomous agentic workflows is creating new security vulnerabilities that traditional legacy vendors may struggle to address.
Analysts at Goldman Sachs anticipate that this shift will trigger a significant upgrade cycle in security operations centers, favoring providers with deep automation capabilities. CrowdStrike’s current portfolio of AI-integrated products, such as Pangea for agent visibility and SGNL for authentication, is viewed by the firm as a growing moat that provides both cost and intelligence advantages over competitors.
Fiscal Performance Overview
CrowdStrike’s Q1 fiscal 2027 results, released on June 3, highlighted strong operational momentum:
- Total Revenue: $1.39 billion, representing a 26% year-over-year increase.
- Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR): Reached $5.51 billion, up 24% compared to the previous year.
- Profitability: GAAP net income reached $27.8 million, a notable turnaround from the $104.3 million loss reported in the same quarter last year.
- Operating Cash Flow: Recorded a record $590.9 million, with free cash flow hitting $468.5 million.
The company also reported a record net new ARR of $255.8 million, an increase of 32% year over year. CFO Burt Podbere noted that the company is raising its full-year net new ARR growth expectations to 27.7% at the midpoint, signaling an acceleration over the prior fiscal year.
Strategic Developments and Platform Adoption
CrowdStrike’s growth strategy is further supported by deepening platform adoption and strategic partnerships. Data from the company indicates that 51% of customers now utilize six or more modules, creating higher switching costs that solidify the company’s market position.
The company has also entered into several strategic collaborations, including the launch of Project QuiltWorks, a cybersecurity coalition involving OpenAI and Anthropic. Additionally, CrowdStrike has been selected as a launch partner for OpenAI’s Trusted Access for Cyber and Anthropic’s Project Glasswing programs.
In conjunction with these operational updates, CrowdStrike’s board has approved a four-for-one stock split. The record date for the split is set for June 25, with trading on a split-adjusted basis expected to commence on July 2. This move is generally viewed as an effort to increase share accessibility as the company continues to see strong year-to-date performance.
